How much is my gold worth?

We evaluate your gold in front of you based on current gold prices, checking purity, weight, and metal type. The full evaluation usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, and you receive instant cash once it's complete.

Do you buy broken or old jewelry?

Yes. We buy old and broken jewelry regardless of condition. If the piece has diamonds, we separate and evaluate the stones and the metal individually so you get a fair price for both.

Do you buy gold coins and bullion?

Yes. Since gold coins and bullion are already pure metal, evaluation is quick and you typically receive cash on the spot without the additional time needed for jewelry with stones.

Is it better to sell gold to a jewelry store or a pawn shop?

A jewelry store like European Jewelry typically offers better prices than a pawn shop and gives you the option to exchange your gold for new jewelry from our showcase, which most pawn shops can't offer.

Do I need an appointment to sell my gold?

No appointment is required. We accept walk-ins, and you can also book an appointment by phone or email if you'd prefer a scheduled time.

How do I know your evaluation is fair and transparent?

Evaluations are done in-house, in front of you, with no middlemen involved. You're shown the weight of your jewelry before any further checks, so you always know what's happening with your item at every step.

Do you buy old or broken gold jewelry?

Yes. We buy old jewelry in any condition, including broken chains, bent rings, and single earrings.

How do you decide what my gold is worth?

We test the metal and purity, weigh it, and pay based on the current gold rate.

Can I trade my gold for new jewelry instead of cash?

Yes. We lock in the gold rate the same day you finalize the sale.

Should I clean inherited jewelry before selling it?

No. Cleaning can reduce the weight of the piece, which lowers its value.

Do you charge for appraisals?

No. Appraisals are free and carry no obligation.

Can you turn my grandmother's jewelry into something new?

Yes. Our in-house designer can remake old gold into a bracelet, pendant, or ring, and can add initials or engraving.

Where can I sell estate jewelry near Mount Prospect?

Visit European Jewelry at 60 E. Northwest Hwy, Mount Prospect, IL.

Do I need an appointment to sell gold?

No. Walk-ins are welcome. Stop by during business hours and we'll take care of you.

How will I know the price is fair?

You'll watch the evaluation happen. We explain how metal, purity, weight, stones, and the current gold price shape the offer, so you understand the number before you decide.

How quickly will I get paid?

If you accept our offer, we pay you in cash on the spot. There's no waiting for a check or a mailed payment.

What kinds of gold jewelry do you buy?

We buy gold rings, chains, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and pendants, as well as estate and older jewelry. Bring in what you have and we'll take a look.

Can I sell broken or mismatched jewelry?

Yes. Broken chains, single earrings, and damaged pieces still contain gold and can still have value.

Should I clean my gold jewelry before I sell it?

No. Cleaning can reduce the weight of a piece, which can lower what it's worth. Bring it in as it is.

What affects how much my gold is worth?

The metal, the purity (karat), the weight, any stones, and the current price of gold. Because gold prices change, the value can shift from one day to the next.

Is a jewelry store better than a pawn shop for selling gold?

We think so. A jewelry retailer works with gold and fine jewelry every day, so we can tell what a piece is really worth, and we offer better value than other jewelers. A pawn shop handles many kinds of items and is often focused on loans.

Can I exchange my gold instead of taking cash?

Yes. You can choose cash, or you can exchange your gold toward another piece.

What if I decide not to sell?

That's completely fine. There's no obligation, and you're free to leave with your jewelry.

What if the jewelry was inherited and I'm not sure what to do with it?

Take your time. You don't have to decide the same day. Our guide to selling, keeping, or redesigning inherited jewelry walks through each option, and you're welcome to bring the pieces in for a free, no-obligation appraisal before you decide.

Do you buy estate jewelry?

Yes. If you've inherited jewelry or are settling an estate, we're happy to look at it and explain what each piece is worth.
